The Robin Hood story is well known. He was the handsome, valiant and selfless defender of the weak; benefactor of the poor and terror of the greedy rich. He was the original wealth equalizer. But the Robin Hood myth is a Trojan horse for the Collectivist doctrine.
When Robin’s tale is taken at face value it provides emotional validation of theft. The pompous and spoiled scoundrels he robs; and the wholesome peasants to whom he gives – both seem deserving of Robin’s justice. By casting themselves as modern “Robin Hoods,” Collectivists try to pose in the glow of Robin’s legacy. But assuming the appearance of virtue is where their devotion to his creed ends.
The fictional Robin lived a simple life with his band of Merry Men in the heart of Sherwood Forest. His devotion to his quest was as pure as his pursuit of it was ruthless. Real-life “Robin Hoods” are almost all wealthy; living in extravagant luxury; aloof to the economic realities faced by most Americans. The “forest” these later-day Robins inhabit, while as impenetrable and mysterious as was Sherwood, bears no resemblance to the sylvan refuge our hero once occupied.
Today’s “Robin Hoods” walk gleaming marble hallways, meet in richly paneled rooms and enjoy the immunity, exclusivity, pomp and ceremony of Princes and Kings. Their original quest; to act as the devoted guardians of American liberty, justice and prosperity; has been reduced to a reckless accumulation of personal power – and the ruthless uses to which such power can be put.
The fictional Robin Hood lived in a feudal society, where all wealth was amassed through the coercion of a powerless, illiterate, peasant class by a callous oligarchy. The rich, from whom Robin stole, were thieves themselves. Robin was merely recovering stolen property. In this context, he was the righteous guardian of property rights.
America’s “Robin Hoods” exercise power granted by the Constitution and public consent to secure Robin Hood’s ideal by protecting individual rights. But they have exceeded their lawful powers and routinely disregard the public will, treating their constituents like the lowly serfs who populated Robin’s land.
America’s rich are mostly those who have produced great value and received voluntary compensation in return. They are wealthy because they have created opportunities where there were none; increasing the living standards, convenience, well-being, health and prosperity of those who freely trade with them. In a Capitalistic, Constitutional Republic, one honorable wealthy person contributes more to overall social progress, prosperity and human dignity than a multitude of modern “Robin Hoods.”
The original Robin Hood was an expert marksman and strategist; pulling off daring raids with a handful of men, relying on his wits, his bow and his sword. Today’s “Robin Hoods” miss the mark repeatedly; due not only to poor execution, but to flawed strategies as well. When the original Robin Hood erred, he and his men paid the price. When modern “Robin Hoods” fail, the cost of their errors are born by their victims.
The fictional Robin Hood was a true man of the people. American “Robin Hoods” ride in limousines and rub elbows with the types of characters the original Robin would have robbed on sight.
However, there is one thing that today’s would-be Robin Hoods have in common with the original: They practice impersonal wealth redistribution. When the fictional Robin Hood gives to the poor the story does not distinguish whether he is returning stolen property to its original owners or merely giving out money indiscriminately.
While the original Robin Hood may inspire the emotional satisfaction of righting wrongs and protecting the undefended; his methods are unfit for a just and egalitarian society. Under American law; rooted in the sanctity of individual liberties and equal justice, his goals are achieved by general respect for others; the balanced enforcement of objective law; and the impartial resolution of disputes in court.
Today, the Robin Hood myth serves the powerful at the expense of the weak (the powerful being the state and the weak being everyone else). This modern distortion of the Robin Hood lexicon is the exact opposite of our hero’s purpose. As long as the Robin Hood myth survives; as long as it’s true lessons are mystified by opportunists; and its premise of “robbing the rich and giving to the poor” forms the rationale for unlawful wealth redistribution; his legacy will only serve the degradation of our people.
The death of Robin Hood; the condemnation of his creed; and the castigation of his followers is necessary to restore our inalienable rights to the exclusive control of our property. Considering that he is fictitious, that his modern devotees are con artists and thieves; that his legacy has been hijacked by the very types against whom he fought; Robin’s death is a small price to pay for ending the crime of robbing real producers of wealth for the sake of the undeserving.
When our leaders honor their oaths of office and execute their duties with the passion of patriots and the decorum of statesmen, Robin Hood can go softly into that good night.

ROBIN HOOD Season 3 Finale
Take a look at a couple of sneak peek from the ROBIN HOOD Season 3 and series finale, which will air on Saturday, December 5, at 9pm on BBC America.
I am a big fan of the show, and even though I felt this season wasn't as great as the previous ones mostly because of Marian's absence, I still enjoyed it very much and am looking forward to finding out how it all ends.
And if you want to see the third season of Robin Hood all over again, you will be able to on January 12, 2010 when it comes out to DVD, which will include a five-disc set boasts over an hour of bonus material including behind-the-scenes features, character profiles, video diaries and more.
Episode 13 (Possible Spoilers)
Robin and Gisborne ride out to meet the Sheriff. He won back the Prince’s patronage by securing the services of a deadly European fighting force who stand behind him now. He orders the firing of a flaming missile over the town walls with his trebuchets and tells Robin he has until dawn to surrender Nottingham and Gisborne or they’ll all be annihilated. Gisborne offers to give himself up but Robin tells him this is bigger than him—it’s about the future of England. The outlaws say goodbye to Allan as they place his body on a small pyre and the Sheriff’s battering ram smashes through the town gates. Robin leads a team of archers to take on the invading soldiers—but the Sheriff’s men keep coming. Gisborne, Robin, Archer, and the outlaws all find resolve in highly unexpected ways.

Old World Theatre resumes adventures at Belcourt with 'Robin Hood'
As the character behind Olde Worlde Theatre, Stein has created periodic Saturday morning gatherings at the historic Belcourt Theatre over the past seven years, telling traditional stories more from group input than formal script. That's not to say they aren't rehearsed. It's just that actors may be friends, teachers, parents, mimes, dancers, children — or any combination of those. Each is encouraged to come, grow, share and above all, have fun.
"On a good day," he says, "it's a timeless event. Colorful. Memorable."
Stein — who opens his 2010 season with Robin Hood in January — remembers his own first such experience while visiting Denmark as a teen. A theater company was performing on the streets of Copenhagen, and it so turned his head he was never the same.
"Out of nowhere, this troupe just showed up and blew a trumpet, and kids just gathered. They did a version of Rapunzel, and even though I didn't speak Danish, it was magic. It was about creating this sense of enchantment. I was so taken by what they were able to do in just 20 minutes that it put me on this path."
Passion catches on
He had already been on stage by then, but the experience propelled him to learn mime, perform clown shows and hone his storytelling craft. As such, while one of his five children was at the Linden Waldorf School, he offered to put on Jack and the Beanstalk for the students. The giant needed a wife, so his real spouse Lisa jumped in.
"I was thinking I'd never do it again," she says. "But I'm like a preacher's wife. I see this man who has a mission of doing what he loves, but sharing it with others is a lot of work. So I'm just there for him. A utility player. A tree. A prop master. Anything."
She was far from alone in being drawn in by Stein's passion. Four of their children have participated in various ways, in addition to those children's classmates, and those classmates' parents. Shows have included the likes of Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Little Pigs, with Stein deciding which show to do based on "instincts, cool ideas and who in the pool of folks is available."

Time's running out for Robin Hood
Time's running out for Robin Hood ideas that are being sought by the Sheriff of Nottingham.

As part of work by his Sheriff's Commission - set up to find ways to maximise the potential of Robin Hood for Nottingham – current Sheriff Councillor Leon Unczur, has asked members of the public what sort of Robin Hood attraction and events they would like to see in the city.
Ideas received so far include introducing an international archery competition in Nottingham, as well as building on existing mediaeval pageantry with a procession from the Old Market Square to Nottingham Castle, Robin Hood plays, banquets and jousting. At Nottingham Castle, people have suggested there should be more information about Robin, with actors around the building in character and making more of the caves as part of the Robin Hood story. Other ideas include a guided tour around the city of sites of special interest by costumed actors, and a tourist bus linking various sites, including Sherwood Forest, Wollaton Park, Newstead Abbey and the city centre.
Anyone with other ideas has until January 1st to send them in to be considered by the Commission when they meet early in the New Year. They could be incorporated into the Commission's Robin Hood Masterplan, which is due to be published next spring.
The Commission, made up of independent members, is looking into how to create an attraction which would meet or exceed visitors' expectations of a Robin Hood experience in Nottingham. The Sheriff and other Commission members recently travelled to America to see which elements of successful attractions with high visitor numbers could be incorporated into a world-class Robin Hood attraction close to Nottingham Castle. Among their findings were:
* The need to make strong connections between different elements of the visitor experience, such as a city attraction and Sherwood Forest
* Finding various ways to fully engage visitors, from effective use of technology to good, character-driven story-telling and educational elements combined with entertainment
* Giving visitors a reason to stay for longer, such as by providing good quality, affordable eating opportunities.

Robin Hood Gambler Planning Next Score in Las Vegas
One year ago, a high-stakes blackjack player decided to use his skills in the casino to try and win a family out of debt. Now Las Vegas' self-proclaimed Robin Hood is doing it again — and he's searching for more people to bring back in the black.
"I'm looking for anyone that's in debt ... that needs some help" says the anonymous gambler, who will be working the tables in Sin City in the new year to raise money for another family in need. "I'm going to look for the story that's really going to touch my heart. That's it."
Last year, calling himself "RobinHood702" after Vegas' 702 area code, he asked for submissions to his Web site, quickly receiving thousands of requests for help from people with major financial problems. He chose a couple from Detroit with a young daughter whose grapple with brain cancer put them $35,000 in the red.
He then flew Kurt, Megan and Madison Kegler to Las Vegas first class, putting them up in a luxurious suite, taking them to shows, treating them to expensive meals and spa treatments. And this modern-day Robin Hood was true to his word, taking from the rich and giving to the less fortunate, handing 35 grand to the shocked and nearly speechless couple who went home with pocketfuls of $100 bills and newfound hope for the future.
Now RobinHood702 is doing it again.
"I'm going to look for the story that's really going to touch my heart," he told Fox News. "I have gone through a rough year myself, through personal tragedies in my family and financial difficulties, so I know what it's like. But you know what? I'm still here and I still want to help a family, period. Nothing is ever easy for anyone, and I know that full well."
But why go to such lengths to help a stranger? The generous gambler says he hopes doing it will make his mother proud. "That's why I do it," he said.
Just like last year, RobinHood702 plans to play blackjack to draw a family out of debt. If he gambles and loses, he's guaranteeing the family half of what they owe. If he wins, they get the full amount.

"I want a thousand people — I want ten thousand people to do this. It's one thing to hear about people helping people and it's another thing to be there in person," he said.
Schulze says he's ready to give "thirty, forty, fifty thousand dollars" to the family he chooses. "Whatever they need to save their home, to get out of debt, to get out of bankruptcy, I want to help someone out.
"Really this is a story about Americans helping Americans. No one else is going to help us out and it's time now to help each other."
Schulze plans to select the winner from the same submissions to Robinhood702.com, but won't attempt to win the money they need at the tables. He's just going to hand it to them after they get their rock star treatment during an upcoming weekend in Las Vegas.

The normally brash and outspoken character grew quiet as he thought about the gifts.
